| During End C, it is revealed that Leaf is actually Mary Sue, the goddess of creation. She has stolen fairy tales from different authors and altered their endings to fit her imagination. She is revealed as the overarching antagonist of Black Souls I as she was responsible for the fog, which turned people into demon beasts. She is also the one who alters the endings of each of the protagonist's companions at the end of the game to a more grimdark and hopeless end. |

| It is revealed that Mary Sue had a power unique to only her, the 'Ability to Change'. [1] With it, she crafted and maintained many gardens. She had a fascination with fairy tales and thus stole the souls of authors. How is not clear, but it is shown that Lewis Carroll made a wish which summoned her.[2] Mary Sue then fused the authors' souls to create Grimm, but when this happened is never explicitly stated.
Lewis/Grimm ended up in Wonderland (The Crawling One's garden)[2], where the Endless Tea Party occurs. Mary Sue disliked her stepfather, The Crawling One, whom ended up as the husband of Mary Sue's mother, Baphomet. Aside from The Crawling One's unnerving 'smell' that was akin to her own, she expresses distaste with how they preferred to simply observe their garden and "would never smash a Jenga tower"[3], as opposed to Mary Sue's own cruel twists and interventions. When the The Crawling One was weakened from taking the form of Alice and driven mad by its obsession with love, Mary saw this as an opportunity to take Lewis/Grimm for herself among others. The catalyst of this event was the Prayer Master making a wish out of jealousy, one Mary Sue answered to take them into her garden, Lost Kingdom, eventually leading to the start of Black Souls I. At some point, the "Good Witch Glinda" summoned Baphomet to Forest of Sabbath in the Lost Kingdom where Baphomet decided to take root in the garden with the intention of ruling it herself, but instead was caught then manipulated by Mary Sue into being one of her 'actors'. This was all a lure concocted by Mary Sue whom simply wanted to see her mother's reaction to her own tale, but was let-down by it. [1] This eventually became her undoing in Ending D of Black Souls I, as the death of Baphomet called the attention of The Crawling One whom had recollected itself enough to pursue a mad search for Grimm. Mary was stripped of her power/divinity by the Red and White Queens whom made her 'Ability to Change' into a Great One/Outer God of its own, the Grand Guignol.[1] Mary Sue (renamed to Mary Ann) is then imprisoned beneath the Red Queen's castle and can be subjected to Grimm's wrath. |
Appearance[]
Leaf is extremely short, being able to ride on the protagonist's shoulder when she is tired. She has short green hair and green eyes along with pointed ears. She wears a type of green leotard and glass green slippers. Being a fairy, she has two long green fairy wings.
Personality[]
Leaf is a pretty flirty and teasing towards the main protagonist. Sometimes she says things that hint towards a darker side of her, such as when she tells the protagonist that he can do whatever he wants towards others, and not be punished for it. The other fairies describe Leaf as a soft, gentle, and caring person who really wants the world to return to the way it used to be.

- ↑ 1.0 1.1 1.2 Chaos Dungeon, 'Library' - "Mary Sue's ability to change was a power unique to her. Wielding it, she crafted and maintained many Gardens. As vexing as it is, I'm obliged to admit her genius as a creator. After Red and White Queens stripped Mary Sue of divinity, after this unique power was stolen from her, they remade 'Ability to Change' itself into a new 'Great One', so that neither of them could use it to trick another. ——The Theatre of Darkness, Grand Guignol. A mechanical god existing to be used by the selfish god. Unexisting now, it exists in the distant past. In the Winterbell castle it sleeps together with the crown."
"After being summoned by Good Witch Glinda, The Black Goat of the Woods with a Thousand Young took root in that land, intending on ruling it and propagating. And just like that, the Black Goat was cleanly caught in the Lost Empire, manipulated by Mary Sue to be another actor on the stage of her play. It's just, you know... I wanted to see how mother would react when she saw my very own tale. It was such a let-down." - ↑ 2.0 2.1 Black Souls II, 'Flame Memory @ Beach of Grief' - "... Time is a cruel mistress. I want to go back to those days. If there is God, please hear my wish— "Kihihihi! You seem like you'll make a fine material! Allow me to use you, okay?" A disgusting high-pitched voice pierced my head."
Black Souls II, 'Flame Memory @ Endless Tea Party' - "... But, the man couldn't remember a thing. Not only about the scene before him, but even about who or what he was. ... A young girl pulled on his arm. Her hair golden, her eyes blue, in a blue and white apron dress. Not even understanding why, the man followed her trace. ..." - ↑ Leaf, Black Souls II, Ending F - "Let me tell you about the Crawling One. About the thing that tricked both you and me. Well, not that even I know all that much about it... I first came to know of it when mother introduced that thing as her new husband. I knew it at a glance, there was something off about it...the smell, it was the same as mine. But it was completely different! You'd know with just a word, it's the kind of guy who'd sit in the corner staring at ants! The Crawling One would never smash a Jenga tower! It had that weird obsession with humans, but to us, Great Ones, it only showed its face painted over black...ugh, I'm getting goosebumps just remembering it... And that sort of thing usurped MY work! Absolutely unforgivable! There's nothing as tempo breaking as a new mastermind suddenly crashing in without any sort of foreshadowing! I need to overwrite this world! My genius won't fail to craft some more lovely tales. Now, let's go! Our dreamy ending awaits! KYAHIHIHIHI!"
